European bookmaker William Hill shook up the entire Nevada sportsbook landscape in 2012, when the company entered the market by purchasing and merging three sportsbook chains: Lucky’s, Leroy’s, and Cal Neva. The acquisitions immediately made it the largest operator in the state in terms of sportsbook locations, and they have since expanded, now running more than 100 sportsbooks in Nevada and opening operations in states that have recently legalized sports betting.
West Virginia represents one of the newest markets for the William Hill online sports betting platform. No operator in Nevada boasts a bigger betting menu than William Hill, who has the ability to offer as many markets as possible with one of the largest bookmaking staffs in the state. There is wagering on professional football, basketball, baseball, hockey, soccer, tennis, golf, MMA, UFC, NASCAR, along with college football, basketball, baseball, hockey, and women’s basketball. Prop bets can be found for various sports as well, typically by clicking on a particular game when browsing through the app.
William Hill’s live betting menu is head and shoulders above other operators, as they have their own in-house software provider that allows them to offer live betting on numerous games at once. While some operators might only allow betting at commercial breaks, William Hill allows its customers to bet throughout the game, with odds constantly fluctuating. One caveat is the bookmaking staff always has a faster television feed than standard cable providers, and could be up to a full play ahead of their customers while offering bets on the game live.

William Hill currently runs three football contests – the Pro Pick’em contest, the College Pick’em contest, and the College Bowl Challenge. The pro contest requires participants to pick all 15 NFL winners straight up (no point spreads) each week. It has a $25 entry fee and has a $10,000 weekly cash prize for the entry with the most winners. $300,000 in cash prizes are guaranteed total.
The college contest requires participants to pick seven winners against the spread each week from a list of 25 games. It has a $500 entry fee and $75,000 in guaranteed cash prizes. The bowl challenge requires participants to make 20 picks against the spread during the college bowl season. It has a $20 entry fee and offers $20,000 in guaranteed prize money.

Providing consistency with limits is a hallmark of most highly-regarded sportsbooks, and one area in which William Hill is lacking. While recreational players are typically accommodated and have no issues betting the amount they would like, more sophisticated players struggle to get their bets approved on a regular basis, and might even be told their business is not welcome at all. William Hill is the only operator left in Nevada that can approve or reject every bet over a given amount for a given customer, so they are known by sharp players to reject some bets where it appears the customer might have an advantage.

William Hill currently has an independent app that is run by Computerized Bookmaking Systems. The app functionality is better than most in Nevada, but it typically takes longer to place a bet if the approval process comes into play. You must visit one of their full-service sportsbook locations to sign up, will need to provide a valid driver’s license and fill out a W9 form.
There are a few alternative ways to fund the William Hill app, such as depositing at one of their kiosks or visiting a mobile sports deposit hotspot at a local PT’s Pub or Sierra Gold Tavern. You can also use the PayNearMe option on the app to deposit at a CVS or 7 Eleven.

While William Hill operates over 100 locations in the state of Nevada, many of them are lacking in atmosphere, as they are an independent sportsbook operator who is not necessarily incentivized by attracting people into the casino. Most locations are standing room only or have limited seating, encouraging customers to place their bets and then watch the games elsewhere. There are a few locations that are bigger in size and have a more standard sportsbook atmosphere, such as Plaza, The STRAT, and M Resort.
